Hey Now!

So I'm new to this site, yet, this site is not new to me. I'm compelled to connect here as I have no other formidable venue to discuss my tribulations or discoveries as it may be. I suppose I've always been an alchemist of sorts. Perhaps in the true sense of the word or not. I befriended MythMath many years ago and he and I have journeyed together for many years to discover, albeit at times independently, ourselves and too numerous to mention other oddities throughout the years.

I've recently been accepted to join the Freemasons here is my city. Much of my curiosity is of the ancient craft and perhaps there I can find out many of the unanswered questions that lurk in mystery and hearsay! I'm curious of what others here think of that organization and how it relates to what is often discussed here? I originally had difficulty with my decision to join the Craft due to their perceived requirements of believing in GOD. I've decided that is less important to me as it may be to them. God? Perhaps I can just agree to disagree what that is/means. I'm an atheist! The idea of supreme power over something else is rather demeaning to me. My reality exists only to the outer confines of my skin, I think. The effect we have on others is only measurable in the present by each of us. The future is as it will be.

I hope to connect with some of you here to help on my quest for enlightenment, knowledge and understanding of the roots of existence, often not related to humanity, which I feel to be rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

Anyway, I have been reading for months the discussions here and have thirst for the same answers you all seem to be seeking. I look forward to many discussions with you all!

Great to have you here Catalytic Subterfuge. I find it interesting that a substantial number of our new members took the time to scan us out for months, and in a few cases even years (though these forums haven't actually been here that long, just the site itself). I have great confidence in this personally and I am very impressed to see that we routinely pass the closest of inspections. I am quite certain many others pass us over as being too "cerebrial" or whatever...easy-come, easy-go I think...

Oh welcome Cat and I must congratulate you on joining the freemasons....its shows a real strength of character and a unique individuality I can only applaud. There is much to explore in this much misunderstood movement.....did you know that around 200,000 german freemasons were exterminated in World War 2 by the nazi's? And I have a feeling that at the higher levels they have been able to keep some of the more esoteric teachings of the western mystery paths alive and who knows...intact?

Thanks for the encouragment Pagan! I too am hopeful that some of the ancient teachings will be revealed.

Welcome to Abrahadabra Forums Catalytic Subterfuge. Good to have you with us!

I have a freemason neibhor and he has proved out to be a very interesting and knowledgeable person indeed. A lot of what is said about the Freemasons is greatly misinformed as has been previously told. However there is something to be said about groups that I think a lot here would agree, and that is that in many instances their pace of progress cannot cope with the personal growth of an individual. It is important to be aware of such cases when within a group, and act accordingly if such a case arises. Apart from that, being in a group can be a very helpful endeavor in many ways.

Welcome again,

Kain

Welcome on board. I have had the same question pop up again and again. We have a Lovely Temple in St. John's. Unfortunately it recently was sold to a private couple. We will see whether they will give it the respect it deserves or turn it into a condo (Shudder)...

Used to host various punk shows, theatre productions and general wackiness in the Temple... Truly surreal.
