Reading articles on Quantum Magick some years ago renewed my magickal confidence. Have any of you read such articles, and what oppinions did you form?

The above link is the article I had in mind. Below is one that I've just glanced at while googling.

I haven't really seen anything about Quantum Magick prior to now, but I have done a great deal of reading on Quantum Physics (for fun) and have always thought that Magick works because it provides the observer for the function.

Why observer? Simple - the one thing that QP has taught scientists - the act of observation changes the outcome of the experiment.

If you aren't familiar with this, look into the strange things that happen with the double-slit experiment (http://physics.about.com/od/lightoptics/a/doubleslit.htm).

I have a feeling this could turn out to be a really fun trip!

I've found reading quantum theory itself a magickal act...

Have you read Wilson? His use of quantum mechanics in his writings (Cosmic Trigger, Prometheus Rising, Quantum Psychology) sparked myinterest in both math theory and magick.

Not aware of Wilson. Can you give his whole name or some book titles so I can look into that?

Thanks! :D

Robert Anton Wilson (http://www.rawilson.com/main.shtml)

although I am not so sure how much of an authority on quantum mechanics he is...(more a popular spokesman I think)

His books are fun though and generally thought-provoking.

I haven't paid a great deal of attention to quantum-magickal theory although I know that a fair number of my own core assumptions about the nature of matter & mind are...if not rooted there...certainly echoed there fairly effectively. More lately I think I have developed a renewed interest in String Theory. Once I realized it fits the Tetractys like a glove I was hooked.

Kain started a topic on string theory awhile back. I'll post the link here for convenience: 10 Dimensions (http://forums.abrahadabra.com/showthread.php?t=603&highlight=string+theory)

Incidentally, Robert Anton Wilson Defies Medical Experts and leaves his body @4:50 AM on binary date 01/11.

All Hail Eris!

On behalf of his children and those who cared for him, deepest love and gratitude for the tremendous support and lovingness bestowed upon us.

Also, today is Albert Hoffman's 101st birthday. He is the man who discovered LSD. Coincidence?

DOH! I completely glossed over the titles in the post and totally didn't make the connection. (I had a brain fart!)

I love RAW's work, although where he stands re:expert status in QP I can't say. Although, there are some really interesting things happening around the fringes of QP/QM theory that play into his works.

Interestingly, there is a book out by Michael Crichton, Timeline, that uses what is known from QM to create a time machine. Great fun, interesting ideas, and helps one get a (smidgen) of a feel for how tricky working at the quantum level is, scientifically speaking.
