Well, sort of.. my name is Caelum, but I don't plan on giving up alchemy any time soon!
I really just wanted to work in an A∴A∴reference into my grand yet comical entrance.. oh well...
Anyway, I'll give you all a rundown of my interests, without going into too much detail.. hmm, on re-reading that, all I can say is that I tried to keep it brief... lets call it a condensed biography of my occult interests
> Began to get seriously interested in esoteric concepts about 1995 (when I was 14-15), midway through high school, and initially focused on sympathetic and more wiccan sorts of practices - particularly with element play, and toying with chance/entropy/chaosy stuff.
> Started reading up on Druidic practice and Arthurian mythology..
> But I really became fascinated by the Western Occult tradition - which was cemented when my friend at the occult bookstore where I did work experience (age 16) gave me a beautiful hardback copy of Magick in Theory and Practice.
> I also started reading various other Western Occult texts and practicing ceremonial magick.
> It was shortly after this that I began playing with the body of light and astral projection/lucid dreaming.. and started to develop an interest in internal alchemy - breathwork, path-work, yoga, tantric stuff (although it was all phrased in terms of Kabbala at this point).
> In '97 (God I'm making myself feel old :D) I went into a the major alternative bookstore in Sydney - Adyar bookshop - and asked a question about some point regarding Kabbalah... This simple question lead to over an hour of fascinating discussion with one of the staff (who I never saw there again btw :o_O:), who then gave me contact details of this group who I might like to meet
- servants of the light they called themselves (S.O.L, better than their previous title, servants of the inner light.. hahaha).
> Moving on; I worked with them for a few months, but found it to become stale (for a number of reasons). I then ran into a girl at the Mind Body Spirit Festival who gave me a number for this guy who I should call. Turned out to be the local O.T.O body, and I spent a very enjoyable 18 months with them.
> By the end of '99 I had basically split with the O.T.O, and was exploring more deeply meditation techniques, with particular interest in the correspondences between different traditions.
> I also started practicing Shaolin Kung Fu and Qi Kung, and reading more about Eastern traditions (particularly relating to Kundalini
<><>Currently, I'm focused on finishing at university, but I get dragged towards my internal arts quite frequently..
Hmm.. I haven't really considered my life in such a retrospective manner before.. there's so much more I could say about the subtle influences on my life, but hey, I'm sure that'll come out in the various threads, so for now, I'm looking forward to getting more acquainted with the people and work here on this site!
